So last week, I was hit with the flu. Not only was I hit with the flu, I got a double dose of it. Who knew you could get a double dose of that nasty little virus. It all started on March 26 with a headache that lasted until Saturday night which morphed into body aches. I was at work when the aches began and wasn't sure if I was going to make it through intermission and through the cleaning up of the concession. Luckily our lot guy took care of the women's bathroom for me and I could not have been more thankful to him as I was the only one working the concession that night. It was a slow night so our boss sent four people home leaving only me for concession and my friend for the kitchen. I made it through the cleaning process and came straight home, took some ibuprofen got in the shower and went straight to bed. Got up the next morning feeling descent. I went to church and was wiped out when we got home. Luckily my daughter was wiped out too so we took a two hour nap. Monday I felt better but not 100%. Tuesday it started getting bad and by Wednesday I didn't even want to get out of bed. My body ached more and the pain was even worse than being in labor. I felt like my bones would break with the tiniest move I made. My head felt like it was in a bell being knocked from side to side and my chest felt like an elephant was sitting on it. This went on for two days before my husband demanded that I go see a doctor. So I scraped my body off the bed and took a shower and got myself as descent as I could and off to the doctor I went. They did the flu test and it was positive. The doctor came in and said that unfortunately because I had been sick for a week that it was probably on its way out and he couldn't do anything about it. He said that it should have been gone by that time but I may have been hit with another dose of it a day or so after I started feeling better. I did get some cough syrup laced with codeine and a Z-pack. Saturday, I felt like a new woman. Sunday was better but today I am at about 95%.
I am not a big fan of the flu shot and have not had one since 1996 and have only had the flu twice in the last fifteen years. Most of the people that I know who swear by the flu shot get the flu atleast once a year. I get a head cold twice a year but that always happens when spring hits so it is probably more allergy than a head cold. Although, I have never had allergies but who cares. It only lasts a couple of days and its gone. Well I guess my point of this whole story is that, I don't like to tests theories but it always seems that I do. So yes, it is possible to get a double dose of the flu and I am sure of anything else as well. So to all my readers, BEWARE, those nasty little germs lurk in the tiniest of crevasses and will strike when you least expect them to.
Stay well, stay safe and have a great month of April!
